Jesus Heals a Demon-Possessed Man (Mark 5:1-20) Jesus and His disciples cross the Sea of Galilee and arrive in the region of the Gerasenes (or Gadarenes). A man possessed by many demons (called Legion, because the demons were many) approaches Jesus. The man had been living among the tombs, and no one could bind or control him. The demons recognize Jesus as the Son of God and beg Him not to send them out of the region. Jesus permits them to enter a herd of pigs, which then rush into the sea and drown. The people of the town are afraid and ask Jesus to leave, but the healed man wants to follow Jesus. Jesus instructs him to return to his family and tell them what the Lord has done for him.
